The Giacometti Committee serves the interests of Alberto Giacometti’s works on behalf of the Giacometti family and copyright owners, in particular by assessing applications for reproduction to the local copyright associations (ADGAP, ProLitteris, Genossenschaft Wort etc.) and establishing authenticity of works of Giacometti’s. It comprises Catherine Grenier, Director of the Fondation Alberto et Annette Giacometti in Paris, and Philippe Büttner, the curator of the Alberto Giacometti-Stiftung in Zurich.
The office of the Giacometti Committee is located at the Fondation Alberto et Annette Giacometti, 3 bis cour de Rohan, F-75006 Paris (see Documentation). For more information and appraisal forms visit www.fondation-giacometti.fr/comite.
A catalogue raisonné, in progress at www.fondation-giacometti.fr, is also to include any forgeries known to the Committee. Considerable quantities of forged sculptural work are at present in circulation especially in Germany, and are the object of criminal prosecution. Particular care is advised with regard to offers originating on the internet.
The Foundation’s curator in Zurich can also provide concise German-language information.
